Our documentary film activities

In 2025, we have made many important interviews, in the United States, Spain, Denmark and Sweden.

In June, I lectured at a meeting about veteran suicides in the US Capitol. After a suicide prevention programme was introduced, usage of antidepressants went up, and suicides also increased because the pills double suicides. One of the people I interviewed was the new NIH director, Jay Bhattacharya (see the interview here).

Jay talked about his visions for improving the health of Americans, and we discussed major problems with science. For example, why many results are irreproducible, censorship, the cover-up for the origin of COVID-19, the harmful consequences of the lockdowns, the folly of face mask mandates, that public health messages are often too simple and misleading, the problems with Cochrane and its conflicts of interest related to the drug industry, mammography screening, neurological harms of the HPV vaccines, and that depression drugs increase suicides.

In August, we interviewed Martin Kulldorff, the then chair of the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) at the CDC in his summer house in Sweden. I also interviewed Martin in 2023, about all the mistakes the politicians made during the COVID-19 pandemic, censorship and scientific dishonesty (see the interview here).

Later in August, we interviewed people in Spain for our documentary film about censorship and lack of scientific freedom, which focuses on the moral collapse of the Cochrane Collaboration.

We are three people at the Institute for Scientific Freedom: director Peter C. Gøtzsche (professor emeritus, physician) and deputy directors Janus Bang (filmmaker, historian) and Maryanne Demasi (science journalist, PhD).

There is a close link between the institute and our film and interview channel, Broken Medical Science, which is produced by Janus and Peter with editorial advice from Maryanne and Kim Witczak (consumer advocate).

Documentary about vaccines

Our work with Broken Medical Science is extensive, as there are many significant developments in the medical field. We have prioritised filming key figures, which requires resources. We are therefore happy for all contributions that can further our work to communicate about one of the most crucial eras in medical history where particularly vaccines have come in focus. We have close contacts to some of the best vaccine researchers in the world and are currently seeking funding for an evidence-based documentary about vaccines.

Articles and books

As of today, Maryanne and Peter have published a total of 214 articles during 2015. We think many of them would interest subscribers to our newsletter and give some examples below. There is free access to most of them and they are listed on the institute’s website, with links.

I published two books in 2025:

Gøtzsche PC. Whistleblower in healthcare (autobiography). Copenhagen: Institute for Scientific Freedom 2025 (freely available).

Gøtzsche PC. How Merck and drug regulators hid serious harms of the HPV vaccines. New York: Skyhorse; 2025.

This book is relevant for everyone with an interest in vaccines, particularly for those who are convinced they were seriously harmed by an HPV vaccine but were ridiculed by their doctors and authorities. As an expert witness in a lawsuit against Merck, I read 112,452 pages of confidential study reports about Gardasil and found systematic scientific misconduct, to which the European Medicines Agency had contributed. In his superb book review, policy analyst and author Alan Cassels concludes that “If you want the real truth about drugs, don’t ask doctors - ask lawyers.”

Patrick Bet-David podcast

I was interviewed by Patrick Bet-David for one of the biggest podcast channels in the United States in September where I talked about the organised crime in Big Pharma, which includes bribery, corruption, illegal marketing, obstruction of justice, and research and marketing fraud.

We discussed many issues, including why our prescription drugs are the leading cause of death, antidepressants, ADHD, mammography screening, and how Merck covered up for serious harms of their arthritis drug, Vioxx, and their HPV vaccines. Patrick was highly professional and his staff found relevant documentation he presented while we were speaking, underlining that what I had just said was correct. He linked to our websites, and the interview created enormous interest in our Broken Medical Science channel.
