Newsletter 1: Our new podcast series
1 November 2023
Our new podcast series - actually a videocast series, as all episodes are filmed - is available from multiple sources. We have our own server and a homepage with various functionalities, e.g. a comments section. All episodes can be seen from our homepage, without ads or censorship.
We also have channels on Spotify, Twitter, YouTube and Apple. If any of these media censor our content, we will complain about it and mention it in our newsletters and elsewhere. It is very important to expose censorship and to stop it if we can. Free debate is essential for the progress of science and for preservation of democracy, see the 2023 Westminster Declaration.
On YouTube, episodes 2 and 3 below got this label within 7 minutes after we uploaded them, with a link to the World Health Organization: “COVID-19 vaccine. Learn about vaccine progress from the WHO.” But some of WHO’s information was questionable (see also the two episodes):
What are the benefits of getting vaccinated against COVID-19?
One should always ask what the benefits and harms are, of any intervention. The vaccines have killed some people because of myocarditis and thromboses.
Getting vaccinated could save your life. COVID-19 vaccines have saved millions of lives. What is the evidence for this? The vaccines are not particularly effective because the virus mutates.
Consider continuing to practice protective and preventive behaviours such as keeping a distance, wearing a mask in crowded and poorly ventilated spaces. The randomised trials have not found any effect of face masks.
Even if you have had COVID-19, WHO still recommends that you get vaccinated after infection because vaccination enhances your protection against severe outcomes of future COVID-19 infection, and you may be protected for longer. Furthermore, hybrid immunity resulting from vaccine and infection may provide superior protection against existing variants of concern. This has not been documented, and many researchers doubt that it is correct.
To ensure optimal protection, is important to receive COVID-19 vaccine doses and boosters recommended to you by your health authority. It has not been documented that boosters are beneficial, and the European Medicines Agency has warned that boosters may be harmful, as they may weaken the immune system.
In both cases, within a couple of hours, YouTube removed the link to the WHO, with no explanation. We speculate that perhaps YouTube is worried about their reputation. I had interviewed two of the most knowledgeable people in the world about vaccines who, to some extent, contradicted WHO’s recommendations, based on solid science.
We will have many episodes explaining how our societies can do much better and what people can do themselves to live longer and happier. For example, many drugs indisputably do more harm than good and should be taken off the market, but in a world with drug regulators and politicians that are overly industry friendly, this rarely happens. Our best option is therefore to warn the citizens against using these drugs, which we will do in our podcasts.
The first four episodes have been published
1 Big pharma, the corruption of science, and millions of unnecessary deaths. With Professor emeritus Peter C Gøtzsche.
2 The harmful effects of lockdowns, facemask mandates, censorship, and scientific dishonesty. With Professor Martin Kulldorff, Harvard University (currently on leave).
3 Vaccines, a complicated area. Some decrease total mortality, some increase it, and COVID-19 vaccines are overused. With Professor Christine Stabell Benn, Southern University in Denmark.
4 The myths of the chemical imbalance and the chemical cure for psychiatric disorders. With Joanna Moncrieff, Professor of Critical and Social Psychiatry at University College London.

Articles
The director of the Institute for Scientific Freedom, Peter C Gøtzsche, and the deputy director, Maryanne Demasi, publish over 100 articles a year, most of them on the institute’s homepage, on Substack and on Mad in America. Many of these articles, listed on the institute’s homepage with hyperlinks, are relevant to the mission of our podcast series.
Tweets
Our Twitter handle is @brokenmedics. In addition, Gøtzsche (@PGtzsche1) and Demasi (@MaryanneDemasi) tweet a lot and have many followers. If you want to support our mission, you can retweet our messages.
Our mission
The mission for our podcasts is the same as the mission for the Institute for Scientific Freedom. We work to preserve honesty and integrity in science and to help develop a better healthcare where more people will benefit; fewer will be harmed; and more will live longer in good health. To further this mission, we will need to influence the public discourse without censorship.
We interview top researchers, science journalists, consumer advocates and others who tell us how we can do better and how we may improve our chances of living a long and happy life.
Best wishes
